The Star News inadvertently ran incorrect information recently in the County’s delinquent tax advertisement. Some portions of the list were pulled from prior advertisements while other portions of the list weren’t published at all. They will be running a corrected advertisement on Friday, June 26, 2020. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Beginning Monday, May 11, Tax Office hours will be weekdays from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. While in-person service is available, customers are encouraged to call the office for assistance at 910-798-7300 or use the online resources below before coming into the office. Tax payments can be dropped off any time at the Government Center, in an outdoor drop-box located at both entrances to the building.
The Tax Department is responsible for obtaining, developing, analyzing, and maintaining records necessary for the appraisal, assessment, billing, collection, and listing of taxes associated with real and personal property within the jurisdiction of the county and municipalities, according to the state of North Carolina General Statutes. The Tax Department is required to provide information, research, and maintain records for the NC Department of Revenue, and provide statistical information for General Assembly analysts. The department also serves as the staff liaison to the Board of Equalization and Review.
